Yes!!! The first full-length trailer for Star Trek: Picard is here and it doesn’t disappoint.

We finally get to see what the motivation is for former Enterprise Captain Jean-Luc Picard being called back into action. And we get to see several new characters, most of whom make up his new crew in this new mission.

But there’s one addition that actually made us yell out with trekkie joy. If you’d rather get the surprise yourself, stop reading, watch the trailer, and come back to this.

Okay, ready? Trailer spoiler incoming…

The return of Seven of Nine (played by Jeri Ryan) is upon us! As far as we know, this is the first time the Human-Borg hybrid has appeared alongside Picard. If you’re not familiar with Seven of Nine, just know that she was an important part of the Star Trek: Voyager series and big fan favorite. Combining her with Picard in a new Star Trek series pretty much guarantees a lot of attention right from the start.

So far, the only weak spot in the trailer seems to be the quality of the cinematography — it looks a little cheap at times. This is the same problem Star Trek: Discovery suffered for its first two episodes before getting on track, after which all subsequent episodes looked stunning. Hopefully, Picard will level up as well.

Ok, one more spoiler, if you’ve read this far without watching: OMG, Data is back! If we had to guess — since the storyline shows Data as having died — in this scene Picard is likely speaking to a hologram of Data. But still…Data. Is. Back. How can you “not” watch this when it debuts in 2020?
