If you’ve ever dreamed of joining Starfleet academy, traditionally, you only had one path in the real world — becoming a real astronaut at NASA or another space agency. But now there’s another way, and it doesn’t involve becoming a physics, engineering, or math genius. CBS Television Studios and the Television Academy Foundation have teamed up to launch the “Star Trek Command Training Program.”

And while the name is science fiction-based, the actual program is designed to help foster those looking to enter the entertainment business.

“The Command Training Program is our commitment to expanding that inspirational vision across the entire Star Trek canon. The Star Trek universe is an ideal place to celebrate new voices and perspectives. We want to provide the framework to begin entertainment careers in a meaningful way and can’t wait to get started,” said Star Trek executive producer Alex Kurtzman.

Two interns per semester will be placed on a Star Trek series and given the opportunity to experience “a 360-degree immersion in the production process of the Star Trek universe.”

Applications to the program will be accepted from November 14, 2019 until January 21, 2020. The program is open to college students over 18 and winners will be announced in March.
