The story of Ghost In The Shell, the classic Japanese anime, seems to have a million lives. The latest installment in the franchise is a new series called Ghost In The Shell: SAC_2045, and it’s coming to Netflix.
Directed by Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki, the new version appears to mix traditional animation with 3D rendering.
Not much is revealed other than a brief look at one of the characters (Major Kusanagi?), confirmation that it will be in Japanese with English subtitled, and a brief synopsis:
“In the year 2045, after global capitalism has defaulted, Japan’s elite Section 9 begins conducting covert cyber operations.”
However, we do know that the new Ghost in the Shell drops in 2020.
