The director of 28 Days Later, Danny Boyle, is currently mulling a return to the zombie series. He recently sat for an interview with The Independent during which he hinted at how the third installment in the series might play out.
“Alex Garland and I have a wonderful idea for the third part,” said Boyle. “It’s properly good. The original film led to a bit of a resurgence in the zombie drama and it doesn’t reference any of that. It doesn’t feel stale at all. He’s concentrating on directing his own work at the moment, so it’s stood in abeyance really, but it’s a you-never-know.”
Boyle’s more recent work includes science fiction films Sunshine and Frankenstein, as well as tech biopic Steve Jobs.
His latest film is yet another bit of science fiction called Yesterday, in which the main character wakes up in an alternate timeline.
