Nike is the master of margins. They take shoes that take a few dollars to make, like the Air Force 1, and turn them into classic with certain version selling on eBay today for $6,000. So it makes sense that the company’s next target is making cheap recyclable materials sexy.

That’s the proposition with the new line of sneakers called Space Hippie, which are shoes constructed using all recycled materials. Even the video introducing the line says, “These Nike Sneakers are Trash.”

If Nike’s pricing strategy holds true, the sustainability angle of these shoes won’t stop Nike from pricing them high, likely in the $170-$200 range.

The Space Hippie is slated for release this spring.
