We knew it was coming, but now we finally get an unvarnished view of Timothée Chalamet as corrupted Emperor Paul Muad’Dib in Dune: Part Three. Unfortunately, the nearly three-minute trailer also commits the cinematic sin of giving away too much, so if you want to go in with totally fresh eyes, avoid this trailer. Otherwise, the visual treats packed in this last look before the film’s release are enough to pull in even those who haven’t seen the first two films.
We see Florence Pugh shine in her morally complex role as Princess Irulan. We get a few glorious glimpses of Robert Pattinson as the pale-faced, white-haired antagonist Scytale. And we even see Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides in one scene baring it all. Of course, Zendaya is present throughout the trailer as former Paul Atreides’ lover Chani, in a series of scenes that reveal how their relationship may end.
This entry in the trilogy is particularly focused on action scenes, which may be helpful in determining how much director Denis Villeneuve has developed this aspect of his filmmaking ahead of his next project, James Bond (featuring an as-yet-unannounced new Bond).
Dune: Part Three will hit theaters on December 18, the same day Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters, so fans will faced with a difficult, but amazing decision on that Friday.
