Black Mirror is seen by many as the most influential TV science fiction anthology since Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone. For fans of the show, the start of 2026 brings great news, as the show’s creator, Charlie Brooker, has announced that there will be a season 8 for the popular series.

“I can confirm that Black Mirror will return, just in time for reality to catch up with it,” said Brooker via Netflix’s Tudum portal. “So, that’s exciting. That chunk of my brain has already been activated and is whirring away.”

The last season, which debuted in April 2025, featured stars Paul Giamatti (Billions), Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who), Issa Rae (Insecure), Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians), Rashida Jones (The Office), Chris O’Dowd (The IT Crowd), Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish), Cristin Milioti (The Penguin), Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad, Bugonia, Civil War), and Jimmi Simpson (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia).

No date has been revealed for season 8, but if Brooker is just getting started on the writing, that means the earliest we might see the next season would likely be late 2027, or sometime in 2028.
