We usually see advanced humanoid robots coming out of Japan, or the U.S., but this time the futuristic bot is hailing from Iran.
Specifically, the Surena IV Robot was developed by a team at the University of Tehran. In short video posted by IEEE Spectrum, the robot is shown writing its own name, drilling with power tools, balancing on one leg, and tracking the gaze of a human.
The design looks a bit retro, but the direction is decidedly future-facing.
