The Blade Runner 2099 series we reported on a couple of weeks ago finally has a trailer, and it looks very good. Starring Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), the series will focus on the still-simmering war between the humans and the replicants.
Silka Luisa (Halo, Shining Girls), with the backing of Ridley Scott (director of the original 1982 Blade Runner), did a great job of bringing the cinematic grandeur of the films to the small screen. We see sweeping vistas of megalopolis buildings and moving billboards as flying cars float over the landscape, as they did in the original.
Although the one-minute, thirty-second trailer seems to get the aesthetics right, we still don’t know if the Amazon Prime Video-distributed series nailed the drama and story quality of the films. But now we have a date marking when we’ll find out. Blade Runner 2099 launches on November 25th. 2026.
