During an interview this week with CBS News, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos talked about how the Apollo 11 moon mission inspired him to create his own space company, Blue Origin, and work to become the first to return to the moon.
“Eventually, it will be much cheaper and simpler to make really complicated things in space and then send those objects back down to earth. I would think, kind of time frame of hundreds of years,” said Bezos.
The tech billionaire appeared alongside Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of the American president who first vowed to get humans to the moon, John F. Kennedy.
“The only reason that we can do the things that we can do today is because we are, in fact, standing on the shoulders of giants,” said Bezos. “Because all of the things that came before make it possible to do these amazing things.”
